Cadet Guide Overview

1. Welcome to the Unit! The purpose of this cadet guide is to provide you with a broad overview of the AFJROTC program. This document is general in nature and is not designed to be all encompassing. Along with your syllabus and other handouts, this guide will help you succeed in the unit, high school, and your personal life.

2. The objectives of AFJROTC are to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship, promote community service, instill responsibility, character, and self-discipline, and provide instruction in air and space fundamentals.

3. Most cadets will tell you they feel “at home” here in AFJROTC and enjoy the friendships they make. In addition to grade-level specific classes, cadets hold social events, perform community service, take field trips, compete at drill and color guard meets, fly RC aircraft and model rockets, hold leadership positions in the unit, and earn ribbons, medals, and awards.

4. I am glad you are a part of this great organization! Give it your very best, and it will give you skills that will serve you well your whole life. If you have any questions, please feel free to come see me.

Cadet Testimonials

“This program has helped me isn’t the average class. This has helped me with leadership skills, life skills, physical heath, and many other things that don’t have necessarily be military related. This is a great program even if you don’t want to join our armed forces.”

- C/SSgt Armerding, 2023

“Although JROTC may seem intimidating and difficult, it’s a program that can shape ANYONE into a better person, through discipline and camaraderie, if they open their mind to it. Because of JROTC, I have evolved from being very timid to being a leader within our unit, which is something I am very grateful for!”

- C/Capt Palmario, 2023

“I'm very grateful for the opportunities that AFJROTC has given me. It was through this program that I was able to make new friends and mentor others. As the Drill Commander, I have been able to grow into a more mature and improve my leadership through hours of training and dedication toward drill. Joining this program was one of the best decisions I have ever made and I hope to use all the things I have learned to benefit myself and the others around me in the future.”

- C/1st Lt Calimlim, 2023

“AFJROTC has helped me understand the value of service. I've made so many friends and developed my own sense of competence, confidence, and leadership. I've been given the chance to lead a flight, a CyberPatriot team, and throw rifles at my friends. This is the best program on campus and I cannot recommend enough to join it.”

- C/2nd Lt Salazar, 2023

“Ever since I first joined AFJROTC I changed a lot. I have been in the program for over two years now, as a usually shy person I grew out of my shell, and created strong friendships along the way. I have taken the opportunity to go on drill competitions to challenge myself mentally, and went on field trips to expand my interest in military aviation and history.”

- C/2nd Lt Ingan, 2023

“This unit is more than just a program it’s become a family. People have gone through and left a legacy that makes this program greater then it was the year prior.”

- C/SSgt Dhuri, 2023

- C/2nd Lt Tipantasig, 2023

“This program is such an amazing place. I see cadets everywhere being able to grow as people, they have the opportunity to socialize with such a diverse population outside and get to share a lunch together a game together and a good laugh. Which is why this program is such a great place for everybody because it’s always a positive safe place for cadets.”
